DJ Pascoe's Top 10 Tunes 2.....coming soon!

I received the final proof copy of my new book DJ Pascoe Top 10 Tunes 2 this week and I’m delighted to say I was able to give the go ahead to start printing. That means I will the first batch delivered in time for my official book launch at the Mobile DJ Network show in Surrey on Sunday 26 April – phew!

As I’ve been busy generating interest in the new book over the last few days, several people who have not had the pleasure of reading my first book in this series, Top 10 Tunes - 101 categories from Acid Jazz to Zumba (hint, hint), have asked for a little background as to what brought me to the point of writing these books. So, I thought, why not say a few words about it here.

My love affair with music started well before I embarked on a 20 year 'alternative career' as a DJ, racking up hundreds of gigs, playing thousands of tracks and entertaining untold numbers of party people. I can still remember when I was a kid, popping my fingers to the sound of Motown and ska, so loved by my parents, and then later on as a teenager trying to memorize the lyrics of this interesting new group called Bob Marley and The Wailers! I also listened to my siblings' music, my cousins’ music and my friends' music. It didn't matter whether it was Abba or Aha or ZZ Top or Zeppelin, I was fascinated by it all. Of course, I do have my 'favourites', but I have and keep an open mind to new styles of music, especially if it can get the dance floor grooving! This exposure to music sowed the seeds of a potential first book in my mind and eventually led me to produce a collection of the most popular genres of music with the artistes and bands which defined each of those styles.  The success of the first book also got me thinking about the people who brought a particular type of music alive. I wasn't just interested in compiling a list of singers and bands and the songs they sang. I wanted to get 'behind the beat' and provide a snapshot of their 'history'. I also wanted to avoid producing a dry account of their achievements, so I've researched and come up with some nuggets of information only hardcore fans would know about each artist or band.

Each and everyone one of the Top 10 tracks in the new book have either appeared on a playlist put together by one of my clients or has been requested by a guest at a party I have DJed, at which is why I choose these particular artists to showcase.  Some you’ll love and others you may hate but, in my opinion, every artiste featured here is unique and represents a slice of enduring entertainment history.

Watch this space for more information about Top 10 Tunes 2 to make sure you can be one of the first to get a copy once it’s published.
